Historical Collection

This room tells the national history of Nikšić and its surroundings through objects of every size and material, from weapons to flags and photographs. Rather than forcing them into one format, the display follows the material: flags hang vertically in wall showcases, rifles and sabres are arranged in striking vertical compositions against deep burgundy walls, and decorations and medals rest in floor showcases for close viewing. The rhythm of the room echoes the drama of the events it recalls. Among its treasures are weapons linked to the Battle of Grahovo and the sabre of Duke Mirko Petrović.

For collectors of arms, militaria and historic textiles, it is a model of display that is both rigorous and theatrical.
